Jingpo Lake Scenic Area in Heilongjiang Province is China's largest alpine barrier lake, famed for its crystal-clear waters, volcanic landscapes, and spectacular waterfalls. Formed by ancient volcanic eruptions, it offers year-round beauty from summer boating to winter ice formations. A UNESCO Global Geopark, it combines natural wonders with cultural heritage from the Manchu and Korean ethnic groups.
Nature's Masterpiece
Jingpo Lake, spanning 95 km² in Ning'an City, is the world's second-largest volcanic barrier lake (after Switzerland's Lake Geneva). Created 10,000 years ago when lava flows dammed the Mudan River, its average depth of 40m reveals stunning underwater visibility up to 10m deep.
