Natural & Cultural Landscape
Xishan Scenic Area, also called Biji Mountain, spans 889 hectares along Dianchi Lake’s western shore. Its highest peak, Luohan Mountain, rises 2,507.5 meters (620 meters above the lake), offering breathtaking vistas.
- Geology: Formed by Cambrian sandstones and Permian limestone, the mountain’s "sleeping beauty" silhouette has inspired legends. One tale tells of a princess whose tears formed Dianchi Lake after her lover’s death, her body petrified as the mountain.
- Biodiversity: Over 300 plant species thrive here, including rare medicinal herbs and ancient Hua Shan pines. The forest coverage exceeds 90%, earning it the nickname "Green Emerald of Yunnan Plateau".
